This is an aluminum alloy handlebar extender that mounts conveniently under the stem cap, providing tons more space to connect accessories and keep your handlebar real estate clear of gadgets. Made from CNC machined aluminum, this setup includes all of the hardware necessary for your to swap out your current headset cap and mount this accessory in its place. You&';ll be up and running in less than 5 minutes. This item replaces your existing stem cap (you can use your existing stem cap bolt or the included Stainless Steel 50mm M6 bolt - 1.0 thread pitch). From the center of the stem cap, the handlebar extender elevates at a 45 degree angle for 7cm to a hinged, step-lock joint with a spring loaded vernier that allows you to move the cross bar up and out. From the center of the vernier to the center of the cross bar is another 5cm extension, providing a maximum extension of 12cm / 120mm from the center of the stem cap. The aluminum cross bar is 22.2mm in diameter and securely held to the device with a stainless steel M5 bolt (included) and the cross bar is 15cm in length. It has two plastic end caps that when secured, prevent whistling from cross-winds and allow secure place to stash something important. The stepped vernier allows you to lock in the crossbar elevation that makes the most sense for your ride and tighten it down; because it&';s "stepped", there&';s no loosening if you really send your bike over an obstacle. We recommend the use of blue Loctite 242 / 243 on the retention bolts of all bikepacking and gravel accessories. As a medium-strength thread locker, this product reduces vibration-related loosening.
