EGW 70 Practical Extractor, Stainless Steel

The steel used in today's manufacturing process is far superior to the materials available when the 1911 was first designed. With advancements in alloys, controlled furnaces, vacuum heat treating, improved tooling and finite element analysis, we've elevated the production process for greater quality. A common issue with extractors is that, over time, they dull from constantly riding up the relief groove of the casing, causing tension loss and eventual jamming. If your extractor consistently loses tension or requires frequent adjustment, it's time for a replacement. To address this, we reduced the distance between the bolt face and the extractor hook. While most hooks are cut at right angles, we've machined ours at an acute angle, providing more surface area for the hook to engage with the casing. We also added radii to both sides for increased strength, eliminating the weak point typically found in right-angle designs. The hook is crafted with a special cutter that ensures a clean radius in the inside corner where most extractors fail. Finally, our extractor undergoes vacuum heat treatment, offering superior spring properties and the ability to maintain tension for over 70,000 rounds.
